POMP & Circumstance: igniting your career.
It’s about identifying your purpose, claiming your ownership, improving your mastery and living in the present moment.
Last week we began the journey of identifying our dream, our purpose—the reason we are here at this time and place. We set out this past week to do some inner soul searching of what we truly want to happen in our lives. To let ourselves dream. This required us to begin a new habit with the help of action triggers. So friends, how did your week go? If you missed the blog, you can find it here:
Step Two. Identifying your top dreams, your top passions. Now you should have a list of “dreams” or passions that completed the statement, “when my work is ideal, I am…” If not, take a breath, and begin the week again.
This week will be the key to identifying the top dreams of your life. We are going to review the list and start to rate each entry from 1-10 on how important each one is for your heart. The action is to come up with the top 5 answers to the statement. So how to do this?
Exercise: During your designated quiet time, take one dream you wrote down and think about that dream. Nothing else (not the emails in your inbox, not the chores that need to get done). Think about what it would look like to live that dream. What kind of difference you can make to other people’s lives with that dream. Notice your emotions attached to that. At the end of the 10 minutes, rate your desire for this dream to come true. You might find it useful to note what feelings or visions that might have popped up during your quiet time.
See you next week, in our quest for your purpose statement!
